A HELPING HAND INTO MENTAL HEALTH

It can be hard to admit to yourself that you are living with depression. It’s a fine line, you have worked hard, you have enjoyed weekends away from work and you were ok going back to work. Meeting up work colleagues talking like friends and yes caring about one another. Then one day that fine line it’s broken. You would want to know why but there is no energy to convert into an answer. You can tell something is not right. You start missing work and sometimes you feel everyone is against you.

So what’s happened? Why that fine line was broken?

Hard to give a simple answer. You don’t feel that you want to see anyone, you don’t feel you can face everyone, you can’t sleep, you feel anxious and a fear is there too, your not yourself. This is just a mental disorder. When things change, you think about the people who a couple of days ago were your rock today they don’t care.
It only happens after something major too big for your mental state occurs every thing looks and sounds different….

Something is not working normally in our minds. It feels like a downfall. You could feel down and guilty. It’s like you not doing enough. You feel hopeless and useless. Your confidence left you running with nowhere to go.

Your tearful. You miss your family and friends. You look far away like you want to find out what’s happened. It just feels that you have come to an end. It’s sad. You just think your useless you can’t do anything, nothing whatsoever….

A trauma, that was caused by loosing a loved one, you tried to help everyone in your family to get through it.

It’s called DEPRESSION. A mental depressive disorder. That is what happened. Now known as a mental illness. Also known to anyone who needs help to get through it. It needs medication and support to get back to that normal state of mind.

Someone willing to help you is a helping hand. A HELPING HAND.

Seeking medical help it’s where it all starts. Then get help by talking and expressing how you feel. Someone needs to be there to listen and listen and listen. In the end they will hopefully say I’m here for you, I’m here whenever you need me. I’m here. I’m going nowhere.

Getting medication, talking, having a shower and maybe going out for a coffee and just maybe another chat. You feel a bit better than yesterday. You definitely do. That’s where you know that helping hand is really helping. That helping hand it’s so important. That helping hand it’s so human. That helping hand it’s working.

Daily routine becomes easier. You feel better. You feel that things could change for better again. A ray of hope start appearing in horizon.

Words are not strong enough to describe that feeling. It’s such a wonderful feeling when you begin to hope you could work again, you could have friends again, and maybe you could love again. Ohhhhh such a beautiful and great feeling.

There you see someone that has been supportive to you. For days, weeks and months. They might look exhausted but they have a big smile that says everything. I’m here for you. I’m always here for you.

Now that’s a helping hand.
